Street Beautification Team | $17.25 per hour
30 hours/week | May 29 - August 31

This team focuses on keeping our neighbourhood beautiful and clean. Staff will take care of the flowers in West Broadway. Using a motorized vehicle with a large water tank and pump, they’ll water, weed and otherwise care for the plants along our main streets. They'll learn the basics of permaculture by working with native plants.

Staff will also clean up litter, weeds, and remove old posters. Other duties include: Reporting graffiti, painting bike racks or other street furnishings, helping with occasional events, and more to help keep West Broadway looking its best!

QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Class 5 Full Stage Driver’s License (required for some team members)
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and for long stretches
• Possess a positive attitude with strong interpersonal, and problem solving skills
• Willingness to learn new skills as needed
• Some experience in landscaping, gardening and plant care is an asset
• Experience operating and maintaining small equipment and tools is an asset
• Familiarity with West Broadway neighbourhood and community is an asset

This role is scheduled to work up to 30 hours a week from Monday to Friday. Please note that weather might impact the number of hours, as some work isn't possible in the rain.

The position is based out of the BIZ's office at 748 Broadway, where employees can access a full kitchen, lunch space and washrooms. Our office is easily accessible by bus and bike, with parking available nearby.
